Buy a book that identifies different fish species... both freshwater and marine. Sit down with your son and look through the pictures with him, and point out the difference between saltwater fish and freshwater fish, and explain to him why you can't keep saltwater. See if you can agree on some type of freshwater fish that's compatible with what you have now. If he can't have a Nemo, let him pick out something.
Alternately, the nano cube could be done.... but it's a lot of work. There are tons and tons of sites out there for doing a nano-reef in a JBJ Nanocube. Nano reefs are a LOT of effort to setup, but if done correctly, the live rock and cleaning crew takes care of most of the work for you, once it's up and running. Just be warned.... anything saltwater = EXPENSIVE! The JBJ Nanocube is small enough to te put about anywhere, but has enough volume that the water should stay pretty stable once it's all sorted.oh, and as they said... avoid the anemones. They're hard to keep alive, and most clowns are captive bred, so they don't even know what to do with an anemone anyway.
