Mussels

I asked my girlfriend to ge me some mussels today for the plecs and she came back with a jar of pickled mussels, now when i saw them i laughed my socks off, was i right to laugh?

Yes LOL! I wouldn't give them that, even rinsed. I give mine frozen prawns (defrosted) and they are completely plain. I could be wrong but I wouldn't use them.

I aready give mine prawns but i have read of people on this forum giving mussels to there fish so ithought i would try, i didnt expect her to bring back pickled ones though LOL

What sort of liquid are the mussels preserved in the jar?

If they were in brine then you would have been ok...

I buy fresh - chop them up and freeze.
