Musk Turtle

Welcome to the forum. I have moved your post into its own topic, mainly because the thread you posted in is on a completely different topic, but also because we generally have one question per thread - it makes it easy to follow who has said what to who in response to what.

I'm not an expert in turtles, but my worry would be the turtle thinking the fish were provided for lunch.

Hi, I have had Mississippi map turtles before and the answer is no....(imo) There are so many elements here that can affect one or the other.
Fish:
1. They will get chased and eaten.
2. It will stress them out if the are being hunted all day long
3. You have to provide many hiding spaces for them like rock piles as the turtle will eat any plants, which in turn will leave little space for fish.
4. You cant medicate with normal 'at hand' medicines if the fish get sick as it may not be compatible with the turtle.
5. You will never see the true beauty of the fish when they are cohabiting with a predator.

Turtle:
1. turtles need a calcium supplement which can have serious consequences on fish if they get too much of it.
2. Turtles are massive waste producers and this will affect the quality of the water.
3. Turtles need basking ramps etc which can raise the temp of the water too much for the fish.

When they are babies, like the size of a 50p it shouldnt affect the fish much, but as soon as they get bigger I would be looking at moving him to a larger tank.

Hope this helps :)
