Multiple water disease

Away from the basic topic (I can see you have gotten some excellent information from everyone and more from me would be redundant), I research all of my fish online and have bookmarked a web page with specific information about each so that I can get to it quickly. That way I have all of the specs for their living conditions (ph, temperature, which foods they like best). I just type the fish name into google's search engine and get an amazing number of websites with great tips for all of them.

I hope the rest of your fish do well. When I bought my tank I also received no good information from the people at the pet store on water conditions and testing kits. They just pointed me in the direction of starter fish and told me to only put in two to start, so I was basically under the impression that you buy a tank and chunk some fish into it.

Best of Luck to you,
Chrisrad :alien:

mmarch, if I understand it right you have completely stripped down the 55g and filter and started again?

If this is the case then you will have gone back to day 1 of cycling the tank :/

Even if the sand/gravel was well washed it will likely still make the water a little cloudy for a few days.....- this is nothing to worry about...

As Tanked has just mentioned and others in the past the importance of testing the water - I would say its essential to get your own kits - as a minimum get some eSHa quick tests (very easy to use and can be cut in half/thirds to make them more economical)

:)

Thanks,,
up to date, the water is almost perfect clear, it smels like fresh water (for me that's an important factor)
the fishes seemed very well, well one of my crabs ate an alga eater, but, well what can I do, the ph is 7.5
and I went to get the kit but it was 50 dolars, is that expensive?
Well should i buy it through internet?
Well thanks god, I have15 fishes, 6 shrimps, and 1 crab completely alive,
