Multi Vac

I've got one. They're good as a complement to a manual syphon. I have messy Malawis so its difficult to get all of the mess out of the tank during a normal water change. I therefore use one of these to complete the job, as they don't remove any water. They're not as powerful as a manual syphon so I wouldn't recommend relying on one for your regular maintenance.

Paul.

I tend to use one of the battery type jobbies just prior to a water change as I use a garden hose to do my syphoning so don't use this to clean.

I've found it ok but not brilliant.

Pros:
Convenient
You do not have to drain water and can just have a quick hoover anytime you feel like it.
Any substrate hoovered up (I have sand) is collected in the bag and can be washed and re-added straight back to the tank.
You don't have to turn off the heater etc.

Cons:
The telescopic sliding extention tube got jammed up with sand and would not move. I have since put some standard flexi syphon tube on it.
It's default tubing was not long enough for my big tank and if you put it in too deep you get water in the battery compartment.
I have sometimes hoovered something up which then disintegrates and sends clouds of something back into the water through the collection bag.
Because of the collection bag protruding from the side it is sometimes a little cumbersome to get into tight spots.

On balance I'm reasonably happy with it.

Cheers

I have one of these and use it in all my tanks. I find it easier to use than a syphon and it doesn't disturb the fish as much. It's also rather therapeutic!
