Thanks.......the name? He would eat like a pig if I let him!he's very nice, where did you get the name?
He really had never shown much interest in the other tank occupants, until last week.....I got home from work to find half a guppy trying to swim around and the tip of my singapore shrimps tale is gone. Not sure if he just got lucky or if he is actually hunting them down.looking gooooood! , does he try to eat the fish you have in there?
I will most likely have to purchase a bigger tank in the future. These turts average 7" if male and 8" to 10" if female when full grown. Too small to tell which sex this one is yet. That can be determined at about 4". They need 10gal. for every inch! I will post a full tank shot, but not right now! (At work!)hes soo small! i really love turtles but cant keep one at the moment. have you got a full tank shot.? will he be stable in that tank for life?
dany
Yes, I am well aware that's what turtles do! The tank mates were purchased as feeders with the exception of the singapore shrimp and plecos. I will remove them if I need to!he's probably starting to hunt, as he gets older he'll do it more - unless the fish are feeders I'd remove them - it's what turtles do.
Yes, he absolutely needs a basking area so that he is able to completely dry off. If he is not able to dry off his shell will most definately soften and rot. UVB lighting and a heat light are over the basking area. Basking temps are about 10 degrees higher than water temps and the UVB is a must to help with Vitamin D which will keep his shell hard and aid with proper growth! Is he 100% amphibious then or do you need the "basking dock" or him to climb out onto? I might consider getting myself one in the future it's just where to put him that would be the problme as i have an oscar, a green terror and a plec in my tank right now and i don't just want to dump them all.
I don't know what to do
