So the hubby and I just made an offer on our first house, now are waiting to see if it is accepted.

I look around...and go "Crap!"
a 72 gallon tank with 10 frogs / 2 Goldfish and 2 clown plecs, a 10 gallon with ACF tadpoles, another 10 gallon with the newly morphing ACFs separated from their still tadpole siblings, the axolotls in their 10 gallon summer tank infront of the A/C, the axolotls awaiting 30 gallon, a 10 gallon with an ACF with a spinal deformity named Igor who can't live with the big colony due to his specialness, a 10 gallon with the 2 Borealis ACF...

When we moved into this apartment I only had the 30 gallon with 3 ACF to move and a 10 gallon I treated as a spare.

I am NOT looking forward to moving my amphibians!

Probably going to invest in some plastic tubs to shift the frogs esp...they can only travel in the bare minimum of water to prevent them from drowning if the water shifts while they are breathing.

Anyone feel like coming to Rhode Island and helping me move if the offer is accepted?!

Sounds like a nightmare moving all the livestock, it's never fun moving house with fish let alone frogs of various sizes and ages.

I was just thinking if you need to transport them in shallow water, could you use the clear plastic take away containers that most Chinese takeaways put their food in (they use these in Australia, not sure about other countries), I know you can normally buy these containers from grocery shops for freezing meals in, and a pack of 6 or so is usually around $2. Just a thought.

If I was remotley near your part of the world I would be happy to help, but then I would probably have quite a few ACF's myself.
Good luck with it all :good:

THANKS.

JUST FOUND OUT - THEY ACCEPTED OUT OFFER!

Congratulations! Always a great feeling......now the stress starts! :D

It took me 2 seperate moves of 2.5hrs to shift my single 125L so do not envy your task.

Realised that moving the tank on 'moving day' was impractical, so set it up at my parents for two weeks and then moved it again. Dont suppose you have anyone that can take that many tanks for a few days/a week?

Our closing is scheduled for August 19!!

So beyond thrilled!!!

I have a batch of ACF froglets pretty much ready to go, so of course I am planning my next breeding adventure. We plan on having kids in a couple years, and the husband expressed concern about me buying a bunch of tanks, spending a decent amount of money, and then the possibility that I may have to cut back once the kiddies come (at least for a short while)......where would we store all these tanks considering the basement is redone as an in law??

Then it occured to me - - storage bins!!!

I picked up four 30 gallon storage bins today, for about $40 dollars :hyper: - much cheaper than even one 30 gallon tank!!!

So I have been given the go ahead to breed breed breed, considering that should I need to take a break, my "tanks" all just stack inside each other

Thanks!

Once we are settled in, I will set up three of the bins for breeding (four if all the froglets sell early) - -

1) Xenopus borealis pair
2) reticulated albino male Magellan X albino female Kirby
3) piedbald male Harvey X reticulated albino Lola or natural female Jade (Lola if all 4 tubs being used)
* 4) natural male Phantom X natural female Jade

Oh congrats - - pictures please!

One of my axies passed today - They were being fed and I think it took too large of a bite and choked.

They were eating, I left the room to put away the turkey baster and wash my hands, came back about 5 min later and my male leucistic axolotl was belly up on the floor of the tank shaking. He was dead a minute later.

Just one of those freak situations sadly.

I may eventually get another to house with my female axolotl but for now I am just going to concentrate her.

Oh no I'm really sorry to hear that. sounds like freak accident.

I've took photos but I'll upload then when I'm on the computer (on my phone now).

I got a golden one, who is rather nosey and a leucstic. Really tempted to go back for the albino tomorrow. They both ate, but leo the golden one likes and gets excited at the turkey baster hehe

We are closing on the house tomorrow (Friday August 19, 2011) at 11 am! :hyper:
