well, christmas break is coming up and that means that i have to bring my fish home for the holidays. i'd like to bring them all home in my 10 gallon tank because i think that my 5g would be a little cramped for them all. what i'd like to know is, how do i go about bringing the tank home? things like, do i have to remove all the water from it? if i could i'd like to leave a few gallons in it until i get it home, this way i wouldn't need to transplant the fish. and if i do have to remove all the water, what should i do with the fish? i just don't want to be carrying it out and have the whole thing crack on me. that would not make me a very happy camper.

Thanks for all your help.

 Had this myself and what i did was place some plastis sheeting the same size as the surface of the water.
Remove enough water so the tank can be handled (mine is 60 gallon) so we had a very low water line and 140 miles to travel.
I used oxygen pellets during travel and onlt lost a few fish
The plastic on the surface will prevent waves on acceleration and breaking.
Hope this has helped you. :)
