Hi! I'd heard these stories about tanks crashing to the ground but never thought I'd experience it! Today, as my husband and I were moving from one 2nd flr apt. downstairs to another, my betta's 3 gallon solid glass (thank goodness) tank slipped off the tray I had it on and spilled onto the carpet!! I freaked and the moving man and I desparately tried to locate the betta on the floor.

We did and I picked him up with my hand and put him in the inch or so of water that was left. He was gasping a little, but seemed to revive a bit in the water, so I neutralized another gallon and added it to the tank. Poor thing seemed so traumatized---kept hiding under leaves!!! (Who wouldn't be?)

We've got him situated now 4 or 5 hours later and he looks "old"-started to go for a gold pellet, but it hadn't softened enough yet to eat and he spit it out!! That was the only food he's eaten---usually a little vacuum (hoover for you Brits)!

I'm going to change the water tomorrow, add some more now, but is there anything else I can do to help him? WHAT'S ALL THIS ABOUT THE SLIME COAT I KEEP HEARING? DO I NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO RESTORE IT---HAVE HIM FITTED FOR ANOTHER ONE??!!

Tomorrow, we're draining and moving the 10 gallon molly tank--oy!! Wish us luck!! Spending time with him seems to help!

Thanks.-Wendy (now on the lower floor) :hi:   :(

:fish: :hi: Little fella!

sorry to hear your betta went on a bigger trip than planned,
just keeping things as calm as possible and lighlty feeding for a few days and he should be fine

xXx

You might want to add a little aquarium salt or aquari sol to his tank, and just leave him be for a bit. Good luck!!

HAPPY TO REPORT THAT BETTA THAT HIT THE CARPET WHILE WE WERE MOVING IS DOING JUST FINE!! Thank you all for your great support and ideas--destressing the tank and turning off the light!! Betta and I thank you all.

Love,
Wendy :good: :good: :good:

I made the mistake of leaving my betta in an uncovered tupperware container after a move. I came home and he was nowhere to be found, until I saw him on the floor. I picked him up, he was still squirming every so often, put him in the water, pulled the hair and crud off him best I could and he perked up... took him a while but he was back to normal, a-ok. That was back in April. Aside from him being sick now, he hasn't had any problems.

I had heard that bettas can live out of water for up to 15 minutes... thank god I got home when I did.

Glad to hear your Betta is doing so well after that stressful mishap. As if moving wasn't stressful enough! How did you go with the Molly tank?
