I want to get an oscar sometime this fall. I already have read up on how to take care of them but I got to thinking about the future. Eventually I will probably have to move to a bigger place. How would you move a full grown oscar?

a big net and a big bag if not moving far

if your moving any large distance you could sedate it ask at your LFS about it you just add teh chemical to the water and it dopes the fish up quite safe and lasts a certain amout or hours saves it getting over excited and hurting itself

if you are going far it may be best not only to sedate the fish but also pack it in polistyrene and to fill the bag with oxogen i have done this before when moving koi carp over a long distance they were around 3-4 foot in size but the same rules kinda appley to tropical fish also.

hope was of some help

I've had to use a pillowcase to move my midas. Just submerge the case and open it up, tempt the fish into investigating inside than just close it up.

Jumbo bags for moving large fish are available but may take some tracking down, however if you keep large fish then it is a good idea to keep a few handy in case of any emergency, imagine your tank cracking after the shops had closed and you have to take the fish a few miles to a friends house! Any bag suitable for food use will also be suitable for fish.

Any way back to the original question

How would you move a full grown oscar?

exactly the same way as you move a small one but on a larger scale.
