We moved house recently and decided to get someone to do it for us as I have MS and my hubby broke his hand... what a laugh! We ended up having to do tons as they misjudged the house and its contents and didn't allow enough time for packing, also didn't hire big enough vans. End result, we left our old house at 3.45pm and last thing unpacked from the van at 9.15pm. Everything in the wrong rooms, not labelled coreectly etc etc. Only just found our kettle last night, 11 days after we moved!

What is the point of this... I started to take my fish tank apart at 10.30am, read my fish were in bags from 11am, and they didn't get taken out of their bags until 8.30pm (cause the bleep had packed the furniture, including the tank, at the back of the van). One leaky bag (of course the one with the most expensive and the largest of the fish in it) which lost the majority of its water. Some very red scales along the lateral lines. BUT, I didn't lose a single fish... call it dumb luck or my ferverent praying to whatever the deity of fish is but I'm stoked.

Tank is now set up and they are being left for a few weeks to enjoy the space before I put them through any more stress of replanting, putting wood etc back in. I really just wanted them in their tank.

Q: Some of the fish, long finned calico bristlenoses are not getting their colour back, they were very brown with some orange, now they're a pale, very pale orange with some light beige. I'm assuming this is a sign of them still being stressed. Any suggestions on how to help them back to full health?

Thank you as always. I've left the lights down low and they are slowly turning brown from the tail up.

What an awesome post! You haven't lost your humour yet obviously! You must be exhausted. I'd love to see how things go over the next few weeks. I hope you keep posting, and I really wish you well.

Thanks AlexT. We're loving our new home and so it's making it easy to get over the stress of the move. Only thing that wasn't so nice was our new neighbour coming around and shouting at us for parking outside our own home (2nd day here!). Apparently we were making it difficult for her to drive her, TEENY, TINY car in and out of the space in front of her house. I did resist the temptation to offer her some driving lessons for free, thought that might make the situation worse. To be honest we were so taken aback by someone standing on our doorstep yelling "you have been told, one cottage, one car" that instead of slamming the door in her face, we moved the car. The village seems nice overall though as a couple of days later they were outside our frontdoor bitching about us to a local who said "give them a chance, they've only just move in" Yaaaaay for sensible people :) Daft thing is, if she's waited 3 more days once we were back at work we were going to park one in the layby opposite and one outside the house as hubbie leaves early and get back late... I would not be getting up early to let him out. So they've created friction with a neighbour that didn't need to happen. They then had their roofer standing on our flat roof which had I been decent would have been stopped right away, so think it's a bit of a urination contest with them, they do think they're wonderful as "my wife is working with Greyson Perry on his exhition...", erm, to quote Shania Twain "that don't impress me much". I have several famous clients who I wouldn't dream of name dropping, very declasse dahling!

The fish are all doing good, with the exception of the bristlenoses, who are doing great but still haven't got their colour back properly. Was waiting on them looking less stressed before I started putting decs back in tank, only live plants in there currently, but think I may have to put decs in so they have some good hiding spots. My hubbie doesn't want me to as he likes the fact he can see the fish better when the tank is quite empty. It's odd different people's preferences. I like a more natural tank and it's a bonus when I see a fish.

There is a tiny pond about 3foot by 3foot in the back garden so I'm now planning a pond renovation lol. Hubbie doesn't want any more tanks in the house but he can't argue as the pond is already there, it might just end up a little bigger bwahahahaha.

Your neighbour sounds like a tosser that might accidentally drown in the pond one night.

When I was moving into my unit, the other tenants were all photographing the van and my vehicle. The real estate agent had them all terrified of eviction and had them spying on each other and anyone who parked in the driveway. A couple of them came over the following day and apologised and told me about the real estate agent. I told them not to worry because I knew the agent was a cow and had plenty of run ins with her previously.

re: the fish. Put the ornaments back in so they have some hiding places.
