Well as per the title!

Saturday im moving house not far about 10 min drive, but I have to get my 110G 6ft tank there as well!

Plan was to move house Saturday and move my empty 4ft I have there, fill the 4ft with tank water from the 6ft (going to use a water butt to move it about 100 litres) then Sunday again fill the water butt, bag fish, wood and sand etc and move tank and re-fill with as much old tank water as I can save! im hoping about half 50g ish.

Any probs anyone can see with that plan??

as long as filter's matured you should not need alot of water from tank, i would move tank sat set it up keeping the other at old house with fish, then suday temp should be good, and transfer fish and then set up the 4ft as well

haha tried that im under orders to sell the 4ft!

how much water do you think I should try and keep then? I was under the impression the more the better?

as long as the filter's matured you can do 100% waterchange....not reccomended as usual practice but for these situation's you should be fine, only thing you need to do is get water at a good temp, what i would do is a mix from taps of hot and cold to make water warm, around 22c.rem don't fill tank completely because of rock's wood extra and water from exsiting bags you need to float....then float bag's with fish in for a while adding little by little water from tank until they acclimatise, then empty bag into tank

We moved not so long ago and had to move 5 tanks with us.
We did keep some water but not alot over all the tanks. Most important are the filters (bag the media the same as the fish.
The hardest bit with doing a large change/refill is getting it up to temp, but if you have access to mixer taps etc should be ok.

Brilliant thanks guys

Im going to keep about 100litres in a water butt, my filter media can stay in the filter (eheim with valves on the hoses) as it wont leak and its only a 10 min drive and im going to shovel the sand and some water into rubble sacks.

Fingers crossed it will be all good!

Cheers
