I was wondering how to go about moving house with fish. We have:
  • 160ish litre with 4 goldfish
  • 90 litre with 8 variatus (temperate) platys, 2 loaches (possibly hillstream) a few million snails and any fry that may be lurking around, even though i took all the males out months ago (they keep appearing)
  • 36 litre with 4 male variatus platys
  • 12 litre with 3 variatus platy fry
Thanks for any help!!!!

I've moved twice in the last few years and the most stressful part of it for me each time was my ONE fish tank, so I don't envy you!

That being said, I got hold of some big containers to keep as much water as possible.. as well as this I managed to get some polystyrene boxes with lids and half-fill with water and some heat-blocks.. these were really great and are what fish are transported in usually.

If I were you, I'd move the biggest first, simply so that you know that the big ones done and it'll only get easier. :) - Also, I wouldn't try and move more than one at a time, move one, fill it, get it organised, on to the next.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice do you think I can get some bags from the petshop and use them or do they have to be topped up wit hair or something??
