Hey everyone,

Right i seem to have Cory eggs on my fishtank and i am wanting to move them out of my community fishtank as my RAM seems to think they are tasty. From what i know they are only 2 days old, currently at the moment the section which has the eggs in has been cornered of (not very well i might add lol) with a old metal coat hanger and some tights to stop the fish eating, this has not quite worked well and at one point the RAM was seen on the wrong side of the barrier.

So today i went down to my lfs and the only type of thing i could afford was a plasic goldfish tank thing, i dont know how big it is but it is small, i certantly wouldnt put a goldfish in it. Anyway would this be suitable for the eggs to go into untill they have hatched and eatting normal food, as i was going to then put them back into the community tank, or if i have time i will set up my mums rekord 70 and take them over to her house. I am hoping to put the heater that i have spare which is a jewel rekord one and a air pump in, i know this isnt the best situtation but i am still learning and i would really like to see if i can help the eggs grow up.

Also does anyone know how i can get the eggs of the glass without hurting them? if it is at all possible. If anyone would like photos i have a few of the eggs as i used them for another post, and hopefully if they grow i will be taking photos.

Any help would be ace.

Thanks Nessy xx

Nessy...I would not like to comment on whether the plastic goldfish tank thingy would be ok, I have a 40 litre tank that I use for my eggs, but can offer a little advice on moving them, I have always found it easy to move my eggs, simply with my fingers, rolling them off the glass, they are usually a little sticky so tend to stick onto my finger ok...I know other people have used, an old credit card, a razor blade, amongst other things, I do usually move mine soon after they have been laid though, when they are softer and stickier, know they harden up after a day or so...mine usually are starting to hatch after 3 days, so if you are thinking of moving them, I would do it soon.

Hope this might help a little.

Oops forgot to add, when I first got eggs, I used an old ice cream tub (washed and sterilized) and floated it in the tank the eggs were laid in, and I added an air stone to keep the water moving, to stop fungal, I also added the tiniest amount of meths blue to also help with fungal, I used to also use a breeder net, that I got from LFS for the eggs to hatch, mine only cost £2.99.

When mine laid eggs I used a variety of methods to remove them. Fingers, razor blade and plastic library card. All worked for the most part. What I did was have someone hold a mesh breeder net under the eggs I was removing so they would go into the net. When done I put the net near the filter outflow so they had a constant water circulation thing going and had a 2/3 hatch rate.
