Any idea of the average weight of one of these? The tank is 6ft x 2ft x 2ft...so pretty standard. I believe the glass is about 6mm, not 100% sure, but my dad kept fish in them for years so whatever it is it kept the water in...Thanks! :)

Using a calculator I got:

Tropical Rectangular aquarium
Length: 72 Inches
Width: 24 Inches
Depth: 24 Inches

Volume: 149.49 UK gallons
Weight of water: 1493.87 lbs (677.61 Kg )

Don't know if this is correct though, here is the calculator

Thanks for that, although I'm looking for the weight of an empty tank, I'm certainly not going to try moving it with the water in! Sorry I didn't make that clear!

Oh sorry I thought you meant with the water in :) I don't think anybody would be able to pick up a 6foot tank full of water :D

no way i could lift it. My grandpa, a worker, and i could shift it about 3 feet an hour full of water, comparing to what we moved with a 600 lbs couch. (cept that was WAY faster, but we got some injuries going down steps. and he wanted to take a chainsaw to that, and we dont want that happening to a tank :p )

thanks! i needed to know what strength glass suction pads to use...unless anyone can suggest another way of moving it!

I moved my Dad's old tank, when he passed, same dimensions. It was heavy as hell. I was able to do it up a flight of stairs with three other guys. They were all kind of small ~60-65kgs a piece, but in good shape. They took one side and I took the other, but I'm an ex-lifter ~130kgs. We barely made it, but with suction cups It would have been easier.

Good Luck

Carl

6x2x2 can easily be moved by two fairly strong blokes with no problems. Me, my dad and our pair of females only took about 40 minutes to get our 6x2x2 up 2 floors, with no suction cups.

It was just me and another guy moving it along the flat ground outside.

Pie? That fish isn't called pie... I think you are getting confused with my quotes from Weebl and Bob...

It is refererd to as Froggy, the frog, or just "Guts" due to its eating abilities.

It is a splitlure frogfish, or Antennarius striatus. Do a quick search of my topics and you should see some vids of him.
