I had my 25g 3foot tropical tank in my kitchen for two years now and have room to place it in my living room :) just about 6feet away, so what will the best thing to do to move my tank, if there is a way without taking the fish out and all the gravel. Help would be most welcomed :good:

When i moved my 55g i bagged the fish, stored about 50% water, removed sand, moved tank.
Sand back in, water back in, fish back in (once water temp was roughly same).

You could prob get away with leaving the gravel in, depends how much you want to 'risk' really!

Buy a few rubber made tubs, set one up with the heater and some hiding spots. Fill it up, put your fish in that one. Then fill the other(s) up with the water/decor. Drain the tank almost all the way down, then move as usual.

I have heard of one disaster with moving a half empty tank...it could be the exception, but why risk it will only take a few more minutes to do it safely?

Good luck either!

If you have enough people strong enough to confidently lift it, I'd take out all the decorations but leave the gravel/sand, an inch or two of water and the fish. If you're only going 6 feet just lift the whole thing, reposition and refill.

i would empty it completely personally as your less likely to drop it with it weighing less. but thats just my personal opinion

I would only risk moving a tank with gavel and a bit or water IF you have a solid base under it!

Say pick up the table with the tank on top so the glass bottom doesn't have to go under any stress.

Thank you guys :good: I will give it some thought and hope I will pick the best way  I'll let you know if all goes well and how I moved it :) hope all goes well. I will be moving it hopefully weekend, but might go with leaving little water in, taking out all the deco and getting 3 people to move it, 2 at each end and one in the middle?

drain half the water off (or more), slide a sheet of wood under it, move it, remove sheet of wood.
