im having trouble getting her to eat anything besides blood worm and shrimp.shes not interested in whitebait, mussles or prawn what shall i do?also im doing a water change today and the temperature usually drops from about 79 to 74 will this be ok for the ray?should i be worried about the ray stinging me when my arms in the tank?

Make sure you keep your hands and arms away from the ray, they dont usually sting without provocation but she may be a little tetchy still after moving so better to be safe than sorry.

If she is fat and healthy with pelvic no bones showing try starving her for 4 day periods only offering the foods you want her to eat, feed her a very small ammount of bloodworm or shrimp every 4th day if she isnt feeding, i wouldnt try this with a ray with a disc size below 8 inches though and discontinue if the ray starts to look skinny.

The temperature drop should be fine.

her pelvic bones do show.does this mean she is underweight?maybe i should feed her what shes used to until she fattens up a bit then try the 4 day theory what u think?also how often do i feed? i read that several smaller meals is better

Its a very bad sign if her pelvic bones are showing, one of the rules of buying rays is to never buy a ray that has its pelvic bones sticking out. Before you do anything you will have to fatten her up by feeding her whatever she will eat, earthworms are good for fussy rays and are full of protein, if she wot eat them whole try cutting them up into 1" long pieces.

i would get the temp up to 82-84 rays feed better at that temp and then the water change wont drop the temp below a good level

the hip bones and a dent between the eyes is a sign that the ray is under weight

i allready done the water change so should i increase the temp slowly?its at 76

its best to a ray tank at a constant 82-86 i always keep mine at 86 which drops down to about 79 when i do my water change

dont worry to much about temp changes in a ray tank its the PH that needs to be stable

i used to keep a endy in my tank with no problems

you need a higher temp than 80 thats for sure to make the ray happy

i will raise the temp over today and tomorrow.ihave this week off work too so i can concentrate on feeding her up :good:
