Most Common Horse Breed In Your Country?

Here are a few of the horses in UK - I'm sure others can add more :)

the UK has a bit of everything though, the most common breed if you went to a riding school, is probably the mongral (a mix of everything!)!!

The US tends to have a lot of thoroughbreds, standardbreds, appaloosas, and mixes thereof. I suppose that is because we've primarily used horses for herding/corraling purposes, or racing purposes in the past. While we still do have plow horses, they aren't as common; our country was formed much closer to the industrial revolution than those of ancient europe, so we didn't have as much time to build a rich history of draft horses like some of the countries our settlers came from. And, while we of course have a variety of breeds, some of our most popular events are still the rodeo and the racetrack.
I am seeing a nicer variety in dressage. Tennesee walking horses and other nice breeds like that. However, most of the horses I ever rode in horseback riding were standardbreds or mixes.

Oooh and lets not forget one of our most unique horses, the wild mustang! Descendants of horses brought over by early spanish settlers, these guys are special in that they are a feral species that has worked out a niche in nature. Like the dingo of australia, most people accept them as "native wildlife," but they do cause some problems due to their unnatural presence. Regardless, they are a beautiful part out heritage that really helps to symbolise the wild and untamed wast.

Its actually very hard (and expensive) to get a purebred horse in the UK, whatever breed it is! Most of them tend to be a mix of several breeds. The little ponies you get in riding schools tend to have welsh mountain/dartmoor/exmoor that sort of stuff in them. And many of the competition horses tend to be crosses, theres lots of Irish Draught X Thoroughbreds for Cross country and that sort of stuff. They're though enough to do the cross country cos of the Irish Draught, but fast enough cos of the thoroughbred!

I personally, want a hanoverian but they are far too expensive for me

I've always been a fan of horses, but not riding.
Those horses are beautiful!
At my friend barn (She doesn't own it, but she has a horse there are is a 'show rider.'
While in her barn I feel in love with a horse she called a "American Saddle back."
She said it wasn't a good horse, but damn, if I had the money I'd buy that thing faster than you could spell mississippi!
This isn't him, infact, he was much much prettier than this, but just a general idea.
This is all I could find on google, a "Golden Saddleback"

Don't forget the American Quarterhorse! Very, very popular American breed.

We have a lot of Arabs, Thoroughbreds, Appaloosas, and the like. But we have a LOT of Quarterhorses, especially out west.

The Mustangs are especially fun, because they come in every size, shape, color, pattern, temperament, coat type, etc. there is. A well-treated Mustang, even one born wild (all 5 of mine were born wild), can make an excellent riding, cattle herding, endurance, dressage, whatever horse.

I think the most popular horse in America would have to be the American Quarter Horse. They do almost every type of eventing with this horse. I also think the second most popular would be the Tennesse Walker.

I don't personally care for them all that much, since theya re such a short, stocky horse (most not all though) and I tend to prefer the extremely tall horses (like saddlebreds, Tennesse Walker's, Hanoverian's
, Trakehner's, and Thoroughbreds) since I enjoy jumping if I have the opportunity.

They are truly stunning animals..I especially love their long, arched neck...I think it makes them look so regal.

Look forward to spending lots of cash for one though..they are high dollar lol.

 sorry for all the pics..but you hit on my absolute favorite thing...horses! :D

Yeah, thats it
She owns a Morgan...or maybe 2. Can't remember.
For her birthday, he parents bought her a $8,000 Morgan. I don't know why they paid soo much...

lol, why you ask, does one pay so much for a horse? Because a greatly bred horse usually brings in a high dollar price. If they bought her a morgan, she's probably either young and not fully gorwn or she's short...either way..I'm sure they want to make their money back when she wants something else.

Wow, some beautiful horses there.

I guess in Wales the most popular are Welsh Mountains and Welsh Cobs.

These two are mine.........
