This moss or algae is growing over the “tree” in one of my tanks. Is it good for the fish/tank or should I remove it?

put it in the water and take a photo of it.

it looks like filamentous algae and is a pain in the butt on some plants.

I tried to put it back but it’s all bunched up now. The thin part is how it looked. It’s been only on tree for some time but getting a little thicker. Looks like a moss ball whenI pull it out. Is it beneficial or should I take it out?

need a better picture instead of a dark green blob :)

It's probably filamentous algae which is fine for fish but it can smother plants. If it's only growing on an ornament then leave it if you like it. If it grows on the plants, then try to remove it form their leaves.

Or you could always use my trick, and use it an an excuse to just replace them all :kana:

Yeah it's algae, it does look okay in small bunches but once it gets crazy it's a complete nightmare.
My planted tank is currently getting some now but i'm too focused on the reef tanks problems atm lol.

Just keep it in check, i use a toothbrush to scrub it off rocks then brush my teeth after ;)
