Mortimer was my very first betta fish, he was 3.5 - 4 years old. He died last night. He was my miracle fish, he got velvet, fungus, and still pulled through from them last year. Lately he had become very lethargic and wasn't able to swim to the surface in his 5 gallon, so i put him in the first bowl i got him, so he could reach the surface. :-(

I miss him.

Here are two bad photographs taken of him, one of him under his shell he loved so much and slept under all the time, and the other of him looking at me from his hospital bowl under his bubble nest.

I hope i did the photos properly.

RIP Mortimer :-( :-( :rip:

Awwww so sorry. :( It's really painful to lose a first betta. He lived a good long life though, thanks to you. :flowers: RIP Mortimer.

Aaw, I remember Mortimer and his little shell. :-( Beautiful boy. He lived a really long life with you, be proud.

:rip: Mortimer.

Sounds like you took care of him very well. Never had a betta live more than half that long. Sound like he really was a miracle fish. In no small part due to the owner I would think.

RIP, Mortimer. You are an inspiration.

I hope you find a nice boy to fill the empty space he left behind, I.michelle. I hope my first boys live long like him.

:rip: what a good and long life he had. Think of the good times

Thank you all for your replies. They are all greatly appreciated.

You really get attached to these little things. :-(
