Fish Crazy
My tank's fishless cycle completed about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. A few days after I added the first fish I had a slight amonia reading of .5ppm. I did daily water changes until the amonia went down. The parameters have been stable at amonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm, nitrate is currently 5ppm. I do weekly 25-30% water changes.
I have an outbreak of ich which I treated yesterday with CopperSafe. According to the instructions, the meds stay in the tank for 1 month so I do not have to add any more until I do a water change and then add based on the amount of new water. My tank is currently at 80 degrees Fahreinheit. I know that this helps with the ich, but should I lower it slowly to avoid hurting the fish? I cannot add salt as I have corys and plecos.
In addition, I have another problem. Tonight I noticed that 2 of the danios are very pale looking, like they are losing their stripes and their gills are red. They are not acting any differently, but obviously something is wrong. I have not noticed any white spots on any of the danios. Any ideas what the red gills are from? And how should I treat?
Aprreciate you help. Thanks.
