God, thats a great nano reef. I have always wanted one. Are they very hard to take care of?

A bit of detail from the right hand side. Clownfish, cleaner shrimp, two feather dusters and some green star polyps.

(BTW the glass is not dirty, the white dots are 'pods. I didn't want to clean them off as the clowns like to pick them off).

Eelzor,

I don't find it hard to look after but I have spent a lot of money on additional equipment to make things easier. For example, an automatic top off device as the change in salinity in a nano tank due to evaporation is way higher than in a larger tank. As there is only a small volume of water compared to 55 or 75 gallon tanks any problems will become an issue much much faster. You need to be aware of the type of problems and have the necessary information available so that you can deal with them quickly.

As with anything read, research, read, research, etc. ad infinitum. The more information you get the better.

A bigger tank is easier to look after but I did not have the room for a larger tank and was prepared to spend the extra money on stuff for the nano.

Cheers, Eddie

Hi Ste2k3,

No live phyto at the moment. I am using a product call Marine De Luxe Coralfood which needs to be refrigerated once open. I don;t know what is in it.

I also use Liqufry Marine which is supposed to be good for the filter feeders.

Hopefully will be getting some live phyto soon - either from STm or Coral Garden.

Cheers, Eddie

marine delux is I think a phyto based coral food. (i get confused between marine delux and marine snow). the advantage of live phyto over marine delux is that it will not rot if not consumed. it will just live in the system. you can also grow it very easily yourself.
