hey,
Ok like I said before I got permission to use as much water as I need. How many gallons is good for a grow out for like lets say 100 babies? I have read a lot of info on the net but I never really found some of the things I was looking for. I know they eat the stuff that you make with the lettuce in the water for the first few days? Is it any good and how much of it would I have to make? And how much microworms would you have to grow to feed that many babies? I want to make sure no one starves. I'm going for a successful, healthy spawn. So if I take the girls out of the 5 g tank, take the gravel out and take 3/4 of the water out and add 1/4 of fresh tap water and leave it for a few days with the already running sponge filter(which I am getting a valve for) and then start putting the male in, would that be alright? And how long does it usually take for your females to be ready, I know that it depends but is it good to wait until you can see eggs?
Thanks, any feedback and other opinions and tips are apprechiated:)

sorry, the only answer i know is that the stuff you make with the lettuce and water is infusoria (i don't know how much you need) and you can't be sure you're gonna get 100 babies and you'll need a growout a lot sooner if you use the 5 gallon than if you use a 10 or 20 gallon.

Well yeah but I can count them and only keep so many opposite:p And yeah I'm gunna get grow out but I want to know how much space they will need to grow up fast and healthy.

The total of my three growouts together is about 55 gallons; that was for 200 babies, but I also started jarring and shipping babies out pretty early. I've never cultured infurosia, but from what I hear using BBS and microworms would be a LOT easier for you. I can send you a microworm starter if you want... my cultures are going so strong that one tiny culture about half the size of a shoebox could easily feed a whole spawn several times per day, but I keep two going just incase one crashes. The best way to culture them I've found so far is to use baby cereal and yeast . The worms crawl up the sides of the container and then you just wipe them off and plop them right in the tank, easy as pie.

Thanks Synirr, I'm getting worms and another culture from wuvmybetta which she said are going to work. Hopefully I can get them up and going soon... I think it's gunna take like two weeks before they will get here. I'd really like to start asap.
