More Platy Babies ;o;

my other platy had a batch of fry! now i have about 30 platy fry all together, the little fry are in their own little 10 gallon tank, D:

any tips? like how should i be feeding them? i have this powdery food that i got from my LFS, should i put a pinch in? or how big of a size?? D:
how many times do i feed them, I'm still in school so it'll be hard to feed them all the time ;o;

Well done Lucky you!

I get the tip of a toothpick and put it in the powderery food and then plop into the water. I do this 2 times a day and my platy fry seem to do well on it

Just do it once in the morning and once at night. I have a routine like when I get up and when I go to bed.

Most people recommend feeding fry at least 4-5 times a day. I do mine...

Yes you can. But mine seem to survive with 2 feedings...

Yeah, 2-3 feedings are fine but you will get improved growth if you feed more.

I find that a feeding when I get up, another when I get home from work and another right before bed time will get almost as good growth as 5 or 6 feedings do. The main thing to do is never let them get truly hungry. If you feed them by the time they are done digesting the previous meal, there is not much you could do to speed up their growth more. For the common livebearers like mollies, guppies, swordtails and platies, make sure there is a lot of vegetable protein in their diet. These are not vegetarian fish but need a lot more vegetable content than fish like angels, neons, rasboras and the like.

I give mine 3 feedings and they live happily and are growing fine.

would they peck at algae pellets or summin? i could buy some if they'd eat it, right now i'm feeding them with: Nutrafin® basix - Staple Food for Fry (Fish food for all baby and small tropical fish)

You might be surprised how fast they would go for a piece of algae wafer.

yep mine can eat one pretty fast. Especially the ones the size of like dimes... They peck at it and its gone!
