Hi Heather! Your betta is very handsome! Your set up is great too!!

Regarding your bloodworms question... although I'm pretty new to the whole betta/fishie world thing - I do know that you can feed 2-3 bloodworms 2x a day, or you can make one of the feedings pellets (or flakes or something else) and the other feeding 2-3 bloodworms 1x per day.

Now, it sounded to me like you are dropping a chunk of frozen bloodworms in... (sorry if I'm misunderstanding)... but you should thaw them first or the frozen pieces can damage your betta's insides.

You take a bit of the tank water into a "never seen soap" cup and shave or cut a piece off a cube or brick of frozen bloodworms. Put the piece(s) in the cup of tank water and mix them around a little. I use tweezers (never seen soap or touched humans) to drop a piece in one at a time (b/c if you dump the whole thing in - it can foul up your fish's water). I can almost guarantee he'll really enjoy them more this way... and don't forget to choose the "juiciest" ones...

hey max'smom. sounds like my beta would enjoy that. can my other fish also eat the bloodworm? (neons, barbs and catfish)

Hi Zippa! Oh - you're asking the wrong person there... I'm only a "betta" mom right now! I just know that most Bettas love them!

Thanks maxzmom.. Yeah usually when I feed him I hold the cube in my fingers and hold it in the water for him and he comes and tugs the worms off once they melt.. I will start defrosting them now though incase I doing him any harm..He dosnt eat a full cube though..He usually has about 5 or 6 worms..Greedy thing  xx

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
Hooray! I had a feeling he would like those blood worms! I'm so glad to hear that Charlie has already got his "mum" trained.
As far as feeding them, Maxsmom seems to have all the bases covered. I use the same method with Darby, although he gets 3 in the morning and 2 in the evening. I try to switch his food up a little bit though, so he also gets his hikari betta bio-gold instead sometimes.
He looks just as beautiful as I remember. :good:

Thanks Phaedra ... Yeah I still feed him his little pellets sometimes but he still isnt too keen in them.. Atleast he loves his bloodworms... :yahoo: :yahoo: x How is Darby getting on?? x

Darby is happy and seems as healthy as ever. He's really started acting like a goofball when it's time for feeding him. He's got a mean internal clock! He flared at me last night for the first time lol! The room was dark and I came in to turn his light off. Seeing a human head emerge from the darkness to the front of his tank must have freaked him out.
I found a picture here on the forum of one of Jaded's new Bettas that looks a lot like Darby coloring-wise, and discovered that her fish also has the exact same gold flecks as my little guy, so I'm wondering if maybe I misdiagnosed him. He'll be getting a 100% water change Sunday and his filter will be going back to his tank too, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Fingers crossed for you.. I done a 100% water change y-day and got some new black gravel and put a filter in..Everything is well the now..Charlie flares at me all the time now  and loves to be hand fed :S You will have to post some pics of Darby again to I see him.. Yeah I saw that post by Jaded.. She has some really gorgeous Bettas .. xx

yea i have to say again Charlie(heathers fish),Darby(Phaedra's fish) and Salem(my fish) are the #1 fish he he
no every single Betta is a #1 fish!
