I currently have 1 guppy and 3 zebra danios in my tank, i got the guppy yesterday, and all he seems to do it hide. I have ornaments and plants that offer shelter, but he still seems pretty scared. Would it help to buy another guppy to even it out or return him?

that is just new tank syndrom, leave it a couple days and it should be acclimatized to the new tank :good:

I really hope it is not NTS. That refers to an uncycled tank that is causing stress by having ammonia and/or nitrites in the tank, Fifefish. Instead I hope it is just a shy fish that has not become accustomed to the new tank.

i meant new tank syndrome as in a new fish in a cycled tank,
i have a different definition of NTS from you..

I also have a guppy/danio tank, they get on pretty well together, the danio have their areas where they like to sit and watch the surface for food, if any other danio or guppy enters the other danios territory there will be a bit of chasing away. Fun to watch when another danio decides he wants top spot by the uptake strainer, the posturing and fighting between danios is great, although they never really bother the guppys.

As for the guppys, well they do like company and feed together alot, rarely do I see a guppy on it's own unless it's resting or giving birth.

Hope your guppy gets braver soon :)

Nick.

anyways, my guppy doesn't seem to eating the flake food, or rather the zebra danios are eating them all. However, he does seem to eat stuff off of my plants.

almost finished cycling, but he doesn't have a loss of appitite it just seems he is to slow in getting the flake food.
