I found a new plant floating on the top of the water when feeding this morning. I have been having real trouble keeping my plants from being uprooted in the Cory tanks because the greedy little buggers dig into the roots looking for the blackworms. The Brochis have sore noses all the time moving the wood and other heavy decore around. Haha

Anyway, I moved this plant from the Sorority tank because the dwarf Petrocola Synos were eating it. Well, when I took it out to look it over and There They Were! Brown eggs! also some other kind. So it remains to be seen what will happen. I put them in the sterbai breeders net. I hope some will survive some little fry already in there.

But now I know what I am looking for and that they are spawning!

Whee! :hyper:

For sure I will stay in touch on it.

There were some other eggs with the brown ones too. It would be awesome if the suessi got jiggy! But the dulicareus have been very active. But the C.suessi were really out with the bunch this morning.

Honestly I can't even tell which ones are the females. The wild caught ones are all younger.

So you have the same problem as me... :p
It is like a Christmas present... :shifty: You won't know what it is until it pops out of the package.
It is kind of adds to the excitement not knowing what it is going to be doesn't it? :hyper:
:friends:

I found some more brown eggs. It looked like they may have been there awhile and may be fungused. The Cories are not eating them, so I left them to see what will happen. It is a matter now of finding their egg sites to collect.

I will put a net in their tank soon.

Sue,
With my pandas for some reason i found theyd pretty well only lay eggs on floating plants, with the odd scattered onto the walls. What was hilarous was the it was only on my Anubias and Blue Stricta that it actually happened, and only on floating leaves. Wonder if this has something to do with the pandas breeding cycle.

I do have some kind of plant with broad leaves that float. I don't know if she put the eggs on the other plant before or after it got set loose to float. I suppose she wanted a floating plant so badly that she digs them up so they will float for her. LOL

Well they have dug up most of the plants now, so I am going to pot them all! Little munchkins!

I collected a dozen or so eggs in the panda tank this morning. There are 2 or 3 different kinds. there are breeding pandas, a duplicareus family of 6 and 2 gossei that are all acting jiggy. I may have eggs from all 3.

I am really hoping that I have found some C. gossei eggs. I think they are gorgeous and colorful and I would like a tribe. Later I can add some wild caught to strenghten them.

They seem to be going for the underside of light green leaves, cloth or real. I found one pearl on a floating leaf stem last night along with one brown egg in the cloth plant leaves. I need to get another larger of the light green live plants. The one I have has been greatly diminished by snacking dwarf pets in another tank and the picking over that the Cories and I are doing.

I put a breeder net in their tank yesterday. And the eggs are in there. The eggs I collected last week are in the sterbai tank with young sterbai fry. It is so full of green matter that I won't be able to see for a long time if they give results.

I have little dots scampering around the panda/duplicareus/gossei breeding net!!! Wow!! These are great little guys and girls!

my only concern with that tank and all the breeding going on in there is with the dups and panda's crossing while going into their group spawning. those two species will easily cross, the gossei on the other hand should be fine in there though without any problems.

Yes, I understand your concerns, madattiver. In reality they all--including the suessi (who looks like she is getting fat--I thought it was a fella, but not anymore) are dancing together. It is a very happy tank. One big orgy. I haven't had time to find more eggs. So it is just the first few I found and this second small group. Yes, different colored eggs placed together. Still I will not change the tank soon. I always lose fish when I make changes, and if I move into a bigger apt soon (fingers crossed) I will have all the fish moving I need.

Those corys sure know how to throw a party don't they? I just found 2 eggs myself in my green laser tank. I've only had mine since Tuesday!

Good luck with them!

You used the float bag, then plop method, polardbear? BTW nice to see you around. The ones I sent ICEEGRL had fry in about 4 days. haha.

I guess I don't get as excited about the possibility of Cories crossbreeding. Of course, I wouldn't sell them that way without letting the buyer know the possibilities. Right now I don't plan on selling any of these, and if there are viable crossbreeds, I will just give them their own little aqua world.
