It's far better to get a good quality moonlight from a company you know and trust, I've had a few cheap lights and they all broke within 2 months !
I would totally disagree. all you do if you buy expensive LED's is get ripped off. if you go back long enough you will find i made a set for £1.50 from a car boot + a mains adaptor i already had. after 5 years they still work a treat. yet friends who bought things like the Marina macro LED's have seem then go phutt, long ago.
you honestly need you 'bumps felt', if you spend more than £15 on moonlights. and you can get great setups for much less.
I went for the more expensive ones as I've had plenty of cheap Chinese technology from eBay in the past, and all except one, everything I've had has broken within weeks/months. I wouldn't trust something with that track record near water. I'm not disputing the fact that anyone else has bought them and they worked fine, but I didn't feel comfortable with them.
indeed, i do understand. but if you use Fleabay, really, what do you expect? lol.

i tend to use the £1 shop, oddly, you get a better quality item, there.
it is interesting though, that many of the "moonlighting" systems used in our aquaria, are "cheap Chinese tech", from Fleaby. and for the majority, they work and last fine.
take the Cold Cathode tube' some use. they are sold on Fleabay for £3 or so (sold as computer upgrades). these are identical to the items sold in maplins for £20 (again as computer upgrades)
and anyway, they can be replaced for a Few £'s, if there is a failure. which is my point.
the PERCEPTION of added value through reliability, on higher cost items.
is it really better value to pay £30 for something that will last 3 or 4 times as long as items costing £2?
unfortunately i can claim to be somewhat of an expert on this subject.
I'm the father of a severely mentally and physically challenged child. sense, both touch and vision, is vital to here.
to this end we have a myriad of small electronic items, many lights.
now all the gear we need is available, in items especially made for people with mental and physical problems.
but at a cost. say a 20 foot rope lights for £220.
now i can buy the same type of lights, off of the market for £6-10.
now, though aware they will also nowhere near as long (6-12 months). will they last 20 times less than the proprietary units?
and perhaps more importantly, will you ever use the product long enough for the advantage, even, to be relevent?
