I am thinking of adding a moonlight tube to my tank, just to put on for a couple of hours when the other tank lights go out........I would like other peoples views please
Not sure what you mean sorrygoldie said:Thanks Steve you tank look amazing, you have made my mind up for me Just one quick question, does it show a lot the on the top of you tank where the light screws are attached??
Sorry goldie...can't help you on that one .goldie said:The tube has to be fixed to the lid??? can you see the screws??
No need OTP...the cold cathodes are only about 1cm wide and you can get 4" tubes or 12" tubes. They take up hardly any space at all.One_Trick_Pony said:im am now also convinced!!!!
however i have a problem!
my nex tnak is a rekord 120
noe i belive there isn't much scope for fitting extra lighting to these tanks, tho i suppose i could make a nw hood for it?
in fact rather then hijackl the thread i will go and ask in hardware section
Was that a dig at my tank CFC??CFC said:One thing i will say is that if you want to get the best effect from a moonlight tube buy one that is half the recomended size for your tank, ie; if your tank takes a 36" tube then buy a 18" moonlight tube and fittings. This gives a much more natural effect of moonlight filtering through the water and isnt so bright so even the shyest nocturnal fish will come out.
to be honest I thought it was a bit bright myself .CFC said:no, just a observation from personal experience. The first moonlight tube i bought was a 42" tube for a Rio 300, the first night i had it installed we sat up with it on waiting for the elusive catfish and bichirs to come out, and sat there and sat there. The fish wouldnt come out even with the moonlight tube on until i had wrapped half of it in tinfoil to shade the light so from then on any time i installed a moonlight tube i used one half the size.
