Hi,
I've been trying to hook up the DIY moonlight.
I have the 3-12V 800mA power adapter from radioshack.
This is the cold cathode set i got. it was cheap, and i liked it had an on off switch (and in case my fish felt like beat boxing  , a sound setting).

I cut the yellow and black cord between the two 4-pin plugs. had it wired up to the adapter and it lit the tube up about 3/4 of the way?
I thought maybe the adaper wasn't right so i tried a few others.
I'm not sure if it would have done anything, but i think at least one i tried was just AC it wasn't AC to DC, could that have blown something?

the problem is, that now the thing doesn't light at all. no matter what adapter i use. so could i have blown something? or am i just doing this wrong

tried it this way

Sounds like its gone pop - what voltage is the adapter set to?

Ignore the pesamists! These look loads better than the LED Kits ;)

the radioshack adapter was at 12V, but i also tried switching it around, thought the changes might help the tube "spark" ha, light the whole thing.

the other adapters were at like 5-7 V range.

i did try my laptop adapter though, which is at 19.5V

would i have blown the circuit? the bulbs?
any idea why it didn't light up all the way in the first place?

i think these look better also. and if i can get it sorted out, i'd like to add white ones to my tank, to help brighten up some dark spots. so i'd like to get it figured out.

What do you expect lol if you are going to start guessing

Seriously mate putting ac adapter on dc circuit like putting diesel in an unleaded car tank. You then finally killed things by putting rocket fuel (laptop adapter) in the tank

Seriously mate just chuck the thing and get a complete solution where improvisation is not required!
