i like the look of the second one.

i haven't got any but am looking into it also

used the first one... sopposed to be working with 9v.. not good.. change it to 12v then 25v.. but no moonlighting.

secont one seems nice in the website.

i use high beam dark blue LEDs (car ones) with 25v transformar. its not too bright but sharp enugh to give moving cloud shadows... cost me £20

I'm bumping this. I'm researching for some type of moonlight LED bar in the USA that will work separately from my standard hooded light for a few hours at night (I'll buy a second timer). Would really appreciate any model numbers that forum members like. Thanks!

Theres mine Ebay jobs not sure what one its a triple strip with sticky strips and they stick well are attached to my reflectors

Look great at night

I've decided on a DIY project where I'll mount 4 blue LEDs to my existing hood by buying component parts (LEDs, resistors, wire, etc). I'll post pics and results when it's done (if it turns out okay!).

I'm very pleased with mine, they are attched with simply sticky pads and also can with a variable AC adapter so you change the brightness or even try to simulate a lunar cycle if you are feeling up to it! Cost about £11 delivered.

:hyper: your all making me want some.....

did anyone buy the ones ive listed above?

I've used the first ones you posted (These), but got them from a chap in china. Think i must have overpowered mine as after a few months i woke up and the wires were smouldering :( Shame as they were quite good.

maybe incorporate some of these..

they are mains voltage instead of needing a transformer. only danger is that they will be situated near lots of water...

If you are also making yourself a new aquarium hood/canopy then you could secure these bulbs in well along side your daylight bulbs perfectly :hey:

they fit inside these:

Zoddy - I like how yours turned out. Thanks for sharing the pictures. The only part of the process I'm about to do that I'm not quite certain of is: when I go to cut the plug off the AC/DC power adapter in order to splice it into my series of LEDs, how do I tell which wire is positive and which negative? Do I have to pull out my multimeter and see which way gives me a correct voltage reading?

EDIT: never mind - I spotted the polarity indicator on the adapter itself.

that wasn't an issue for me. The kit came ready prepared as seen in the picture. And for the price I thought it was very reasonable indeed.

For moon light appearances I got lucky buying a set of wide angle blue LEDs off of E-bay. What arrived was a set of 4 individual lamps that were wired to an adapter like others have shown. I simply plug the power adapter into my power strip and positioned the 4 LEDs to spread them evenly over my 6 foot tank. The end result is a nice dimly lit tank that I can see into after the brighter lights turn off each day. I don't even bother to unplug the LEDs since they draw such a small amount of power. When the main lights are on, you can't even tell that there are LED lights in the hood. There is no way I can put up a picture because the light levels are too low for pictures. I figure that being able to monitor my fish when the lights are out is worthwhile and the extreme low light level does not really disturb the fish's sleep.
