There is a member here who recently posted a video with one of these babies. Hope I never see one in LFS as I think I would struggle to walk away without it. What would it do to my planted tank

Also it is worth checking youtube for vids if you haven't already - the meaning of the name 'sock monster' really becomes apparent!

I am always hoping for some babies, they look so neat. My two are a male and female around 2.5 years old. Though when they are young they have a massive food drive. I've read of them eating until they physically can't consume anymore, my two use to have no problem eating half their weight in food every other day when they were young . Oddly they found a dead female endler about a week ago. Thing is they BOTH found it. One was eating the head the other was eating the tail. They start to fight once the reached the middle. One of them was eventually able to eat the whole fish. It was a old fish, but I doubt they caught it. I was watching the male just the other day, he was having difficulty finding a piece of shrimp that had gotten pushed by the base of one of the crypts. Silly thing kept biting the plant .

They do pretty good in a planted tank. A few plants get uprooted at first, established plants don't seem to have a problem staying rooted. You can't really attach anything to the glass though, they pop the canister tubes and heater out of their holders. They broke a glass diffuser that was stuck to the glass months ago. I have not had any problems with the new glass one I hid amongst the plants.
