Mom Brought Some "Cycle" Today.

Today in the post came some "Tank Cycle"

Its labeled as

"Nutrafin Cycle"

Says on the bottle

"Biological Aquarium Supplement"
Then says
"immendiately Establishes safe
Biological Aquarium Evironment
Powerful Responsive ammonia
and nitrite elimation
Allows IMMENDIATE Introduction of fish
For fresh and saltwater use"

"Immentiate" Introduction of fish.
Sounds like a big lie to me



Any-one used it?

Any-one know if its safe to use?

From what i have heard its a gimmik and does nothing for the tank. I'd say you have wasted your money. But i have not used it so dont know for sure. Im sure members who have used it will comment shortly.

Just read the back.

It looks like a cylce.. It has stuff like "Intruductions to use"

"Biological Aquarium supplyment"

"New aquariums"

It certainly does not replace the need to cycle a tank properly - doesn't do much good but will do no harm either.

So it does'nt cycle the tank ( Witch im not bothered about )

It claims to contain bacteria to populate your filter. But they've been in that bottle for weeks/months with no food supply so it's highly unlikely any have survived.

This product is fantastically rubbish, no only does it contain the wrong species of bacteria, the bacteria we require need oxygen, and the only way that an bacterial product could work is if it is refrigerated, so it slows down the metabolism of the bacterial cells, so they don't need so much energy, which means they don't need to respire as much.

quickest way to cycle a tank is with ammonia, and you have to be very careful what you are doing and this even takes weeks, there's no way I know (or I could be proven wrong) to cycle a tank by simply putting in a bottle off the self, start slow and build up your fish..

My mom just told me that some-one told her on a diffrent forum ( dont know what forums she told me. but i forgot ) That he puts it in every water change? apparntly it prevents fish from dieing??

will test it out on my New 5 gallon when its set up etc.

Ok heres the plan.

Set up 5 gallon.

Put in some of this "So called Treatment"

Add some molly/guppy fry.

3 weeks later or w/e add a betta.

Sound good?

Or stupid?

Since its fry. and can easly be produced... I Dont see the harm.

I Know most people wont agree to it.

but at the end of the day its to test new stuff out to help other people out there.

It's already been reviewed and it doesn't work, it wont prevent your fish from dying either. What's The point in harming something when we know it doesn't work. it's the same as saying oh well it's only a baby, let put it in a bath filled with bleach, if it dies we can make another.

I Wont bother then.

i'll see how the cycling goes and add some fish later on to speed up the cycling after i add media from the main tank

Also i just poured abit out to look whats inside theres little bits of who knows what...

Its not to make the tank instantly cycle ( my bad )

but to prevent death of fish?

put just a small amount of fish in,, imagine you can see the build up of bacteria on the filter, hey you can even look at the filter, it will show when its starting to build up,, (bit of a rough guide I know but its how I saw it) then put more fish in.. enjoy 1-3 small fish living happy at first ..

Ugghs.... Complete lies, complete rubbish; when I was still cycling my 10-gallon I didn't know that you weren't *SUPPOSED* to put that stuff in, and, supposedly, it like helped keep your fish from dying or whatever (I didn't even know about *CYCLING* back then), and, since I had just had a death, I stuck some in; my females looked kind of sickly after that for a few days, and I never put it in again.
