hi guys ermm im new to this but i have a problem with my shrimps the tank they are in is about 180 litres (hav'nt a clue how many gallons) it's also mainly fish populated but i have 3 shrimps a bamboo shrimp a large camaroon armoured shrimp and a small cameroon armoured shrimp they all stay in the midddle of the tank and kinda huddle to gether with the largest armoured shrimp sitting on top of them they havnt molted in a very long time the armoured are new to the tank and has never molted plus i havnt seen them filter feeding for a while if they are intimidated by the other fish the only fish that could are a large silver fin shark and a siamiese fihgter fish which are famous for them being aggresive pls help

p.s i havnt seen any discoleration in them to date

I am not sure that I can be of any help. They should be filtering most of the time in my experience, when there are fish around they should do it after lights out, you could check with a flash light, a large silver shark is probably pretty scary for them. The betta shouldn’t be a problem though. The filter shrimps don’t grow very fast so they don’t moult that often anyway. My small Cameroon shrimps of about three inches only seem to moult every four months or so. I feed them some crushed flake sometimes, tiny amounts dropped in front of the fans. You could put in a bit of pipe that they could sit in. A piece of pipe where the water flow is strong would allow them to feel safe and feed at the same time. When they are feeding well you will see them with poo coming out much of the time,

ok tnx will check at night and seeeeeeee if can get a nice place for them to feed might bee problm output is right at top if tank which is too high for them to gt near too

Hmmm... What does your tank have in the way of decoration? Shrimp like to have some cover. Do they have things to climb on and places to hide behind?

If not, they might need them -- immediately after moulting (before their shells harden), shrimp are very vulnerable. Like Liam says though, larger shrimp don't moult very often, so don't be too worried if they go for a few months without a moult. :)
