I have one black molly in my tank. what a great fish. I want to get a few more. Do i need to worry about the sex of the fish the same way I do for my cichlids? males are a pain in the rear and they always fight. I am trying to keep a calm balance. Do they disturp other fish? i want to get 2 dalmation mollys and 1 more black molly. at my LFS, they are not too good at picking out the sex for me. =) so i get what i get.

um i would say try to get more females than males... i male/2or3 females. but generaly the fish are gentle. the males shouldn't fight 2 much the only thing worth worrying about is the males chassing the females around (2 death). i know theres a link somewhere 2 show u the difference btw the male and female but i don't know it. someone?

Females have a fantail anal fin.

I recently started up my spare 10g for Mollies. Female silver, male marble, and 1 of each in dalmation.

Mollys are great! I started out with 4 molly's, and they were just so fun to watch. The plus side they were very forgiving in all my newbie mistakes
I currently don't have any but miss them alot. I lost mine to disease after adding a sick molly to the tank. I have not gone back to that store and the other's in my area don't take very good care of the molly's they have so for now I have various tetras.

If you get moll's remember they will multiply quick.. so be ready for lots of fry..
Good Luck

you should get more females, you should be able to pick out the fish you want, and if you cant than i would find a different store. acually i would find a different one just because they cant tell the difference in the sexes, livebearers are the easiest. click here and it tells you the difference. it is for platies, but it is the same in mollies and all other livebearers.
