I bought a molly on Sunday and today she had babies about 25  to my shock obviously also all of them are alive and kicking. I've seperated them there in a measuring jug till I can get something more suitable lol.

Apart from getting them into a better enviroment what can I do to help them all survive do I need special food how often and how much should I feed them how many on average might survive?

:D Congrats to you.....you can get special baby food......liquifry is good. They do it in different numbers depending on how big the fry are.
I discovered my first ever batch of fry approx two weeks after the female had lost her "bulge".....thought she was pregnant, but never saw any babies!!
Once I found them, I fed them liquifry no2 as they weren't tiny....and they thrived.....now parents themselves!!

Congratulations! I can't get Liquifry here, though it sounds GREAT. So I feed the "dust" from inside the fish food jars(ie. the teensy weensy crumbles) to the fry. It's about their size. You sure got a bonus when you bought that girl!

I don't use liqui fry, I find it to messing.

I buy baby and growth food for my fry and they do wonderfuly on it. Will post the names when I next go up stairs. :D

:-( I don't like it when they die there's only about 20 left now. I check on them as often as possible and ive been grinding the normal fish flakes I have up into dust they eat it so thats a good sign. I can see the difference between the males and females now. I think I'm gunna have trouble naming them all lol since I've named any mollys ive had in the past after a series of books I'm reading but I don't think there's that many people in the book lol.

I fed mine Liquifry..........they loved it....

....oh, and ground up flakes.....

If you have separated them into a measuring jug, you may well be doing them more harm than good......

I presume you have no airlead or filtration into that jug.......

I managed to get a floating breeding box thingy off a friend......but before I knew I was going to get that, I made something up which would have been just as good.

I got a small tupperware box and made lots and lots of pinholes (big pin) in it, so that I could suspend it in the main tank with aerated tank water in it.........this way you get the benefit of the filtration of the main tank.......and acclimatisation to your tank water.

Good Luck......... :)

Good Idea. I've changin the water best i can with water from my tank and ive put an airstone in since i had a spare. I'm gunna try and leave as long as i dare in there n then make a make shift hab like u for them since i can't find anywhere that sells stuff like you talkin about round here.

alright I decided to try and make one me self i dont think its that bad considering what i had to hand. I'm gunna try and get some netting so i can make bigger holes in the bottom.

Go for it..........it is not for long........maybe a week at the outside.......and then (depending on what is sharing the tank with them) they should be big enough not to get eaten......... :D :D

Good Luck.......... :)

on ebay check this guys store out he sells baby fish food and my guppies mollies, endlers and platys all thrive on it (even the adults)...my fry developed their colors withing 2 days of starting this food (they were getting it slowly then overnight they were bright!)
www.BabyFishFood.com
if that doesn't work tyr this:
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...&sort=3&rows=50
he has really good prices and I usually receive my shipment 2 days after paying.

I forgot to mention It you have lots of plants both plasctic and live floting at the top and in the bottom of the tank and you don't starve your fish you shouldn't have a problem with your fry being eaten. I only seperate if my tank is too full of fish. I have not lost any yet. and since I have been replying to your post my one of my guppies is having fry putting my fry count at 80 so far in the past month...Time for more tanks!!!

Never thought to look on eBay I cant get owt off that bloke I live in England and he don't ship here but I'm gunna try eBay thanks for the idea.

I only have one fake plant I'm wanting to get a bigger tank because the one I have at the moment wasn't really meant to hold as many fish as there will be if all these fry live. So I didnt want too many plants in cos it makes it look too crowded when its as small as mine is.
