have a small molly she had some fry while i was away at weekend. and she went really skinny. noticed she was not very active and laying on her side. so put her in small tank on her own now she seems to be just lying on her side any ideas

Water parameters? Set-up information?

established tank. ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrate 20 ph 6.8 all other fish are fine its planted

If there is absolutely nothing else wrong, then it could be the soft water… normally, I would expect it to be some time before it starts affecting the fish, but from what I have seen it is more important for females than males.

I'm seeing rams and tetras in your tank, the first do not tolerate salt at all, and the latter not that well. Also, salt does not *really* provide the right kind of hardness and the solution would need to be long term *if* I am correct about the cause.

Do you know how old the fish is? Were there any complications during birthing?

not sure about the birth as it was preg i went away for weekend came back she was skinny dont think she was that old as she was tiny.

like how small anyways i have seen this before in a platy after birth and just asumed it was a swim bladder disfunction and the fish died so maybe it is not a swim bladder disfunction and it is a more birth related problum

common problem with live bearing fish is that they can snuff it after giving birth. Inbred skanky things! *shiver* Cant see any good reason for it to peg it myself other than you too late home to give it a C-section, you fiend.
