I had 5 Silver Molly fry and 2 Platy fry together in their own little shoal. At first, they lived in a breeder, but they got too large for it. We got a partition at a pet store and put it in. One fry escaped several times. We tried to close any gaps, but obviously it wasn't enough, because that same male Molly fry escaped again, and I haven't seen him since. It was likely he was eaten by one of my two Black Ghost Knife Fish (don't worry, believe it or not, they actually get along), or even by one of the other fish. In a 1.5 gallon tank I have in my room, there are two more Molly fry, one part of the same brood as the other ones on the side of the partition in the main tank, but still much smaller than them. The other one in the 1.5 gallon tank is one of the mother Silver Molly's lastest brood. Maybe they don't grow much because the heater isn't working well in the 1.5 gallon tank. Should I move the fry of the main tank to the 1.5 gallon tank anyway, or should I move them back to the breeder? Either way, they probably won't grow much more (though they are big already) unless we get a better heater for the 1.5 gallon aquarium or a bigger tanker instead. Sorry for the long post lol.

I think I'm a little confused so let me make sure I understand first before trying to answer anything :) the 1.5 gallon you have only fry in? Sometimes fry wont grow any bigger because they simply have no more room. But if there arent that many in there then I dont see how that could be the problem. But cooler temperatures do go with slow growth but a healthy growth :) So maybe thats why? Check the temp, you may not need a heater!

But anyway eventually all thoes fry are going to outgrow that 1.5 your going to need a bigger tank. Also if their big enough not to be eaten by their mother why not put them back with her? or is she with your BGK? 0_0 if so they must be young ones.. (i'm so jealous I want one!) I have a few guppy fry that are only a day old swimming around with the adults and I spent 30 dollars on plants to protect them, talk about a waste! But if you feed your fish well enough shouldnt be any problems.

Well I lost another fry :(. So we moved the rest to my 1.5 gallon tank, and the fry are happy. The biggest one is picking off a plant, literally eating it XD. There are no other fish in the 1.5 gallon tank, and the tank is actually larger than the space we left them in the partition. Maybe the thermometer in there is wrong, because the heater is on all the time and not to mention the water feels warm. A person who worked at the pet store we got the heater and tank from said the heater doesn't work well with small tanks, though. We got it anyway, because the previous platy fry struggled and died in the cold temperatures. I feed the larger fry defrosted bloodworms kept in the fridge, which they ate readily, and I give the smaller fry crushed-up flakes. I guess I will get a bigger tank, like a 5 gallon. I see why you are confused; my post was long and terribly explained lol. I heard guppies are awesome fish. :). And as for moving the fry with the adults...the two male Molly fry that escaped I haven't seen since, so they probably aren't ready.
