Ok, so I feed my mollies a fair portion of food everyday. Today I went to feed them , lifted up the little latch in the hood, and noticed that even after I put in the food, they follow my hand around the top....

I thought this was kinda curious so I stuck the tip of my index finger in and they went nuts giving it kisses/nibbles!

Fishy love or blood-thirsty killers?

Lol! My danios do that all the time! My mollies tend to leave me alone, but ya, my danios do it often. Its a territorial thing. They dont realize a 100+ pound human is attached to that wiggling pale thing invading THEIR territory.

I thought they thought your finger was maybe food. They seem to put everything in their mouths but spit it out if they don't like it. Its funny when there is a bit of poo floating around the tank and they swim after it and eat it then spit it out then forget it was poo so then they eat it then spit it out then forget it was poo and then eat it and spit it out then forget it was poo and then eat it then spit it out then they forget it was poo and then eat it then spit it out. Then another fish has a go

Some fish as i am sure some people have been heard can become attached to their owners, as Lynz781 said, they might have though it was food, but some fish such as Swordtails, guppies and other such fish are a little too scared to go near big objects such as hands, when they do this it also goes to show that they have become used to you, and that they arent scared of you and trust you enough to know you wont hurt them, think of it as them showing you love, despite they are nibbling you as if you are food, and no they aint blood thirsty killer, they are adorable lovable fish that can actually become accustom to you to become attached so much that in time you can feed them by hand and trust me, that is a good feeling when you feed them by hand

;)

Aww that's a happy thought :)

I've noticed that my store-bought platys won't do that, but the fry that I've raised are very friendly. When I do water changes in their tank, they swim between my fingers and aren't the least bit afraid. It's so cute. It can be a bad thing though because I get too attached then and have a hard time selling them back to the LFS.

My female dalmation molly nibbles on my pinky all the time. She also allows me to hand feed her. Too bad she has to go back to the LFS because she is overstocking my tank with molly fry. :-( :byebye:

My Tiger barbs used to do that to such an extent that I had to hold an air hose in one hand and blow through it to scare them away when they came to bite my hand. Trimming plants is hard when you have 6 nibbling mouths all over you hand. Fish tickle.
