I thought it might be a good idea to add Biomax to my Penguin 200 Biowheel filter. I'm thinking of placing it between the filter cartridge and the Biowheel. (I also have an empty media cartridge that fits in the spare slot behind the mechanical filter, but I don't think it will hold enough Biomax).

Any thoughts? Any ideas on modification to the Penguin 200 Biowheel filter that would increase its efficiency?

Thanks,
AJ

Biomax is an excellent media for the bacteria to colonize on!

I have the same Power filter and I added a few Biomax in there too with the biowheel, never had problems. thought it would come in handy just in case the Biowheel breaks and steal a few of the Biomax just in case I plan to start a new tank to help cycle fast.

Where did you put the Biomax? How did you hold it in place? How much did you use?
Thanks for the response.

No problem. The thing is I have an internal filter that I don't use anymore, u heard of Hagen Fluval U3? That Internal Filter comes with Biomax and a case to hold them. I don't know how much is in there but its 3/4 full (I can pull it out of my filter and count if u need to know) I just put it at the back part inside my penguin 200, I think it should be fine as long as its fully submerged in water while your filter is running.
