to jimbooo Thanks. but still I have 2 questions:

I found the hose which has the same diameter as the original water tube from the juwel filter. So I was happy to install it without any tricks but the problem is that when you put the hood on the tank it squeezes the hose. Did you do something to the hood? because there is no space between the filter box and the hood.

Didn't you have problems with that ? (no space)

and once again: would it be better to use the filter without the tube and an air pomp? (for instance only during the night, or 24 hours). In that case one would get the water circulation and controlled aeration. Anyway I'm going to try this idea.

During the night one does not have the oxygen from plants, actually you have to supply plants with oxygen, and the fish (do you also run co2 in the night?). So don't you need (in the perfect case) regulated "injection" of co2 during the day and o2 during the night?

I'm thinking of buying Sera CO2 tablets with a small Sera reactor, it is a kind of simple and lame setup but maybe it is worth trying.

hi stealth

Q1 - nope it still fits on top, not sure why yours doesn't the only mod is the green tube on the end of the filter output, it's no taller than before just has a tube stuck on the end. dont understand sorry?

Q2 - you cant turn off diy co2, ideally yes you are correct but in a planted tank with rapid plant growth the o2 level is WAY above the level needed by the fish. my 2 planted tanks have been running for over a year with co2 24/7 and no airstone of surface agitation at all. all the fish are fine. do bear in mind my tank looks like it's filled with lemonade due to the ammount of pearling. if your plants are not growing at this rate an airstone at night may be necessary untill they take off, only short term though.

Now I see the difference. It seems that I have another pomp (newer model or so) in the same filter system. In my case, if I install the water tube it does not go above the filter box (as in your pics) but it faces the square holes of the filter box. So either my tube is a bit shorter or your pomp (which is inside the box) is a bit higher. Also, that's why I cannot see the mentioned "waterfall" with the tube:) When it is installed the water flow goes not from the air in to the water but just on the surface (the outlet of the water tube is half in the water and half in the air).

Thanks for replies.

the penny had dropped. okay it's the same pump but now i remember, with the output behind the slats the pressure was awefull so i lifted the pump so the underside of the tube sits on the left side of the filter box. on top of the left slats - hence the waterfall. The base of the pump is left hanging in the left section of the filter box about 2 cm up from the bottom - make sence.

the lid does still fit on top though. still confused if yours doesn't

That's strange, to lift the pomp. How does it take the water from the right section of the filter. There is a small hole between the sections and special pomp-holder. Isn't it takeing the water from the left section missing all the sponges?:)

But I managed to connect the plastic hose directly to the pomp so there are no problems anymore. The hose is soft and it fits between the filter and hood.

I also bought Sera CO2 tablets with a special reactor. So, I assume in order to get the bubbles from your plants you did some light modding like here or is it still possible to get that kind of picture with 15W per 60L + reflector (Rekord 60) ?:)

P.S. after using co2 tablets and aeration with air pomp during the night the fish behave quite strange: male thick lip gourami chasing the female all the time, very aggressively. Male honey gourami is always almost still at the bottom ( or sometimes at the top). Is it pH jumps, or just normal behaviour from time to time and has nothing to do with co2 "injection" ? At this moment have no water test.
