I am in process of moving house and need to downsize my tank. I have my eye on the fluval roma 200 but don't like the colours of the cabinets available, therefore looking at the juwel Rio cabinet.
They seem to match apart from the cabinet being 1cm longer and 1cm wider, which would mean a 5mm gap around all edges.

Just curious if anyone knows of any issues by doing this? Or done this yourself without problems.

Thanks

if the cabinet is designed to take as much weight or more and there is no overhang of the glass, then it will be fine.

Ok thanks well think the tank associated with the juwel Rio cabinet holds approx 180 and the fluval Roma 200 holds 200 liters, so would be a weight difference but would be no over hang by my calculations

if you think about it in this way though, would you want to risk it?

those cabinets are made of bog standard ply/MDF, made stronmg enough to support the tank they are deisgned for. yes they are brace detc etc but still.

the jewel stand is designed to take a tank that willhold 180kg of water. then you factor in the tank weight, and the filter, and all the decorations and sand, and youre looking at adding another 35/40kg.

then if you add on another 20kg from the extra water in the fluval, and then maybe an extra 5kg for the extra weight. it all adds up.

check with the juwel manufacturer to see how much the stand has been tested up against.

Thanks for the advice have contacted juwel and couple of suppliers and see what I get back!

On another note if someone could recommend a tank which comes with a dark wood cabinet I would be most greatfull I know the juwel tank would be ideal but not keen on all the all in one filter and the negative comments I have read about the lighting system.
