All 3 of these i have tryed. Does not appear that any are better than other
i am just wondering what would be more benifical.
I mean ocean water is pumped like 100 feet down so its not all crappy water like we get on our shores. And to be honest its the cheapest and esiest way by far.

Opinions!!! :)

mixing my own salt i have only jsut started
Buying Pre mixed i did for around 3 months
and then Ocean water i also did for around 3 months.

Where do you live that you can get water from 100 feet of depth?

They are called ocean farms.
they go out and put a pump way down and pump up like 100 000L at a time.
I live in Perth Western Australia.

Cool, somethin like that would work as a natural seawater solution. Dunno if its cheaper or more expensive in the long run than making your own though?

well it is 10cents a Liter
Salt is $60 and it down 120 L
it works out kinda close, but its alot easier going and buying 20L of saltwater.

Who is telling you the source of this water mate?

I just collect from the shore and it suits me fine. Others also collect from the surface. Provided you know where to collect from, and you use common sense when collecting, you should be fine. :good:

Hi - ~I know this is an old thread but I'm hoping its not totally dead! I was interested to hear people use natural seawater, I'm new at this and living by the coast I can't help but think this must be a better option for the tank. What exactly is 'using common sense' when collecting? are we talking simply good quality water or something more intricate?
