Hi all
I've found this forum helpfull in a diagnosis. :)
I have gill flukes (my :fish: not me) and I am in day 9 of treatment
I have just noticed that 2 of my long fin danios, well hardly have any fins left

Q can I treat with melafix for the fins, at the same time as treating for the flukes?

I am using sterazin for the flukes (made by waterlife)

i've never had any problems from mixing meds, but don't take my word alone since i'm no expert.

i would say as long as you're using meds for different problems then you're ok. it's doubling up on meds for the same thing that can be really bad. also remember that long fin varieties can get shredded and nibbled fins easily, so the best thing to do is keep great parameters in ur tank

HTH :)

Some meds say not to mix their products with others, if either bottle says not to, I wouldn't but if they don't say anyhting and everyone else on here agrees, if you need to I would go for it.

good point SailfinGirl! totally forgot that massively important piece of info.

Always ALWAYS always read labels when ur dealing with living things. Guys ignoring instruction manuals for electronics is completely fine tho :p

Melafix is a completely natural product and can be safely combined with most if not all medications, i always use melafix along side any medication to ward off secondary infections.

I've never had cause to use it, so I was just suggesting that dannio reads the label, because I wanted to treat for popeye and white spot at the same time and the bottles both said not to mix the meds.

neither instructions say don't use together, but the sterazin says "allow at least 48hrs to elapse when changing disease treatments". I'm confused
