I'm sorry I'm sure this has been asked but the seach doesn't seem to work for me but whats the minimum tank size for male guppies or how many do you need to keep together for them to be happy.

The bigger the better, the more the better. But if you stick with the 1-2 gal. of water per 1 in. of fish you should be good. And I would not keep less then 6. I had a 30 gal set up with 20 male guppies. They are cool looking fish, but I found they didn't have a lot personality (don't be mad guppie lovers), but look great in tank.

Well you should not keep a lot of male guppys unless you like them fighting and raising aggression in the tank. Before I had 2 male guppys and they fought constantly. So you should have about 1 male and a lot of females or a few males(3 or so) and have many females. About 3 females per male. But it is a risk to have more than one male. About minimum tank size for a good group of guppies would be 30 gallons, but will do fine in a 20 gallon.

If you keep 5 or more, you reduce a lot of aggression. Since you only had two, you had a lot of aggression from them picking back and forth. There will always be some aggression, since they ARE males, but it will be reduced. When you buy them, watch them for a while first, and don't get bully males.

I'd say the minimum sized tank for a group of males would be 10g.

you could keep a trio (1 male, 2 females) in a 2 1/2 - 5 gal tank, but if you want more males, i would go for a 10g and keep at least 3 males cuz you won't get the back and forth. i know it can be a problem, but personally, my males get along fine with at least 3 in a tank, and i know some people with male only tanks. keeping females in the tank can also either distract the boys :fun: (if there's more females than males) or cause fights (if there's less f than m). hope this helps :good:

Ok thanks, I told my cousin that he could keep some males in a ten gallon as long as he got enough and I guess I was more or less on the right track.
