I will give him a ring now, to see if he knows the exact name, but i dont think he does, i will ask him to send me some pictures...as i still cant pin point it through those pictures lol...

He has them living in tropical surroundings, and they are fine...

You will laugh at this...ive just phoned my brother, he says he doesnt have a digital camera, so no photos yet im afraid, he says the name of the catfish begins with a P, and it sounded like a dinasour name lol..... He cant remember exactly what they called it, but definately knows it started with the letter P.

He says its very dark grey on top, and its belly is like a silver/light grey colour..

Definately a catfish, just dont know which one :dunno:

I know you jus got this tank but are you thinking of upgrading again in future. If you already have 2 clown loach and plan on getting 2 more. You said your brothers shark catfish looked too big at 8 inches for the tank so imagine 4 12 inch clown loaches in there with other fish. I have my clowns in a rio 400 and i still worry about getting a bigger tank in a few years the biggest is only 5.5 inch at the minute. I also have the vision 180 as my cory tank and i couldn't really imagine the clowns in there.

Sorry to put a downer on things but its true

Emma

edit: instead of getting more clowns you could get some zebra loach instead as they stay a lot smaller and will still swim with the clowns.

her brother's fish are in a separate tank

Its ok, i dont mind peoples opinions.... My clown fish are very small at the moment, and i know they only grow maybe 1-2" a year, so yes i think my 180 litre is going to be just fine for them :D They are only about 2" now....

I dont know if im going to get anymore clown loach, as the 2 i have really get along just fine, i was just worried that people think they should be in groups of 3 or more, but if 2 are fine, then i will keep it that way, so there is more room for them to grow :D :D

I will have a look at the zebra loaches thanx....they are nocturnal right? I can remember reading up about them, as long as they will get along with my clown loaches, that is probably my safest bet :D

Thanx Claire xx :*

you MIGHT be able to fit one more in there. MAYBE, im not entirely sure though

yup i know her brothers tank is seperate. Could it be one of these he has http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/panga...gasiu/268_f.php

Take a look at www.planetcatfish.com go in the catalogue and search common names beginning with p you should find what he has. It could be some kind of pictus.

Hope this helps

Emma

I started off with my clowns in a 29 gallon 48"x12"x15" not knowing any better and i have only had them for 3 years. Got the big tank in april this year and they were only 1.5 - 2 inch when i got them so it shows how quick they grow even in a 29 gallon. Once they get to 6 inch i think it is, their growth slows quite a bit. I have seen pictures on the internet of 14 inch clowns that were over 40 years old. That is quite a scary thought.

It is very scary yes lol Its great though, that they can live so long

I must say they are probably my favourite fish, out of the ones that i have i mean...lol..

I think i will look into getting some zebra loaches if they get along, and dont grow as big... :D

Thanx Claire x

I ahve zebra loaches...and mine arent nocturnal!!!

Also, clown loaches are quite prone to whitespot, so the more yiou get the higher the chances...
