I've done research on these guys, and I've seen different take sizes for minimum as 30 gallons, 40 gallons, 60 gallons and 90 gallons. Which one is the minimum tank size?

Clown loachs get to a foot long although they grow very slowly(like 1inch per year, although they live for 40yrs) and prefer to be in groups of at least 3 so you are talking extra gallons here for a group- i'd say a 60-70gal, depending on its dimensions, would make a good permanent home for a small group of 3 clown loachs but i can't remember exactly so feel free to correct me anyone if i am wrong.

I read they are jumpers/escape artists, how do I prevent them from jumping out the back if I can't cover it because it has the little space for the heater and filter? what should I use to block it?

I've never had jumping problems with clowns. My blue botia loved to jump into the HOBs and look for baby snails and other goodies, though. If that space just for the filter and heater is the only one, you're probably alright. They love driftwood, broken clay pots and caves to hide in. If they feel safe, they probably won't go anywhere.

I have 2 Clown Loaches currently in my 90 litre...(i know) BUT i am at the moment cycling my 180 Litre ready for them :D So i should think anything from 50 gallons up is fine for loaches.... My brother has the same tank as me, and he has some BIG fish in his.... He has 2 Shark Cat Fish and they are big lol, aswell as 2 clown loach about 3 inch, .....and quite a few others, but not as big...

I personally love Clown Loaches...they are adorable. .especialy there little whiskers...i was planning on getting another 2 for my tank, so i will have 4 in total :D

Good Luck

can you describe what they look like to me? colour etc

From what i can recall, as i saw them again only yesterday, (there at my brothers house)... They are grey in colour, very similar body to a shark, but they are definately catfish, have whiskers, and he has 2, (there always together) I personally think they are a bit too big for his tank, he has 180 litres, and they must be about 8 inches long each....

I will look for some pictures and try to show you....

Claire xx :D

Ive looked on some other sites, and cant find a match to show you a picture of them :/ He has them in a juwel 180 vision, has had them a couple of months now, they are very nice, but i think they are too big, and they dont really do that much lol..... they do scrape there noses on rocks n things though, and have little cuts all over there bodies....
