Mini Puffer Fish

no not really, despite being small and cute, like all puffers, very nippy and need a permanently high protein diet which means better filtration than ever.

normally kept in a species tank and as stated above need really good filtration. its a shame cos they are cute......

i keep mine with pygmy cories n they r fine

I didn't have so much luck keeping Dwarf puffers with dwarf corys when I first bought them (without researching - my bad  ) The corys got attacked. But that was nearly 4 years ago

There are very few compatible tank mates for these cute little puffers unfortunately.

yip seen these yesterday at my lfs and my girlfriend fell in love, so now wants me to do a tank for them. i had a gud chat with the guy about them and showed me how well they will jump out of the water to get food

Definately a species only tank for Dwarf Puffers IMO!

They are totally amazing little fish, but can be really mean....so why risk putting anything else in with them? And yes they will/can 'jump' out of the water for food!!!! I mean they don't exactly leap out of the water for it....but they will give it a good go!!!! I adore my lil' Puffs!

I simply adore my DPs!
They may be small but they certainly can be aggressive.

I sometimes stick my tongue out and place it on the outside of the tank glass... they come straight up to it trying to attack it.

Thay are an absolute joy to watch and look after!

you should have met the kid at a shop i worked at! had a big tilapia named boris and as he was gliding up and down his tank, he was almost as disgusted as i was to find a 5-6 year old kid sliding up and down licking the tank one side to the other!!!

Every monday when i have to squeegy clean all the glass i find hand prints and tongue prints and nose prints all over the lower tanks! Its gross!

I find that quite funny! I'm not that bad though - just the odd tongue poking of the glass ;-)

Less funny when you're the one cleaning slobber n snot off the glass  LOL

Yeah, i have a habit of sitting on a chair so my eyes are level with the substrate and all my loach and cories come over to see what my eyes are LOL I dont lick though!

I've had some luck in the past with nocternal fish that hide a lot, such as kuhli loaches. They need lots of hiding spots during the day. But as a general rule, I agree they should be kept in a species tank. And you need to be very careful of overcrowding as well.
