hi guys my 4 year old son thought it would be funny to put his milk drink into my tropical tank ive done a 75% water change but its still cloudy any suggestions much appreciated

thanks

Good gods, your poor fish! I hope they will be alright.

Those poor fish!!

All I can suggest is keep tat filter running and change the water every few days and pray that the milk doesn't poison the fish. :(

And move the tank so the kid can't get access to it, but I guess he could move a chair... I dunno what to suggest about that. Maybe devise a "keep kids out" clasp for the hood of the tank?

Good luck with the fish, and I hope they will be ok!

cheers guys already lost 2 blue diamond tetras :rip:

hope i dont lose 2 many got my guppy havin babies at the mo so its all happening.

awwww, bless your heart, amsh. This spilled milk is worth crying over!

All you really can do is water changes and lots of them! Like 20% or more every other hour. Try not to disturb your gravel too much because you want to save as much beneficial bacteria as you can. Do you have any carbon handy?

this is my nightmare. my 2 year old granddaughter is always trying to do stuff to my tanks. good luck, and i agree with the 20% every couple of hours.

I have the same problems with my 16 month old. he is IN LOVE with my fishies, and always wants to play with them. I tried a baby lock for fridges, and things, it sticks to two sides, and has a latch in the middle. When my son peeled it off  I tried tape (was a pain in the butt) then ....WE THREW OUT OUR COUCH :hyper: so he couldn't reach it. He still finds ways. Someone needs to invent a baby aquarium lock. Guess that wasn't much help, just wanted to tell you I felt your pain. Keep us updated :)

okguys thanks for ur support and ideas it seems to be getting better at one piont all my fish was at the top of the water as gasping for o2 now they all seem to be swimming around normaly. so far only 2 blue diamond tetras have died :rip: so im hoping that will be all.

now for some good news my flame tailed guppy has given birth to 57 babies

thanks

Congrats on the newbies!! Best of luck wth the milk situation, hopefully they've experienced the worst and it will only get better from here

if you can add extra carbon to the filter that would help as well.

congrats!

just keep up those water changes ;)

aw thats so ####house! good luck in getting rid of it.

PS. you actually counted all 57 of those fry  . that would have been frustrating!

edit: lol i tried to swear and it got blocked out. hah! stupid

Would the milk affect the bacteria in the tank? I would get some Stress zyme and put that in the tank as that will add good bacteria to it for you !! otherwise keep on Changing the water. Have you got a spare tank that you could move some of your fish to? Good luck
