Mild, Relaxed Shoaling Fish

I'm looking to get a shoal or two of some mild, less active tetras, if there are any, for a tank which has quite a few relaxed shyer fishes. They have to be on the larger side, as smaller fishes like neon tetras might do an infamous disappearing act with my raphael catfish at night.

right now, I've got 3 ghost catfish (I'll be getting 3 more if I can find them, lfs has been out of stock for quite some time) 2 bolivian rams, and the raphael in a 37 gallon aquarium. (30Lx12Wx21H)

The tank adds a very relaxed feel to my room with the lack of overly rambunctious fishes, lower lighting, and darker colors of decorations and substrate, and I'd like to keep the feel of it.

If anyone can recommend some shoaling fish that tend to hang closer to the top of the aquarium, and some that tend to hang in the middle and bottom, that would be great, thanks much! <3

you should check out emporor tetra. get to a nice size, look great, and mine dont move very quickly. however i dont know if they're the best schooling fish in the world, mine sort of occupy an end of the tank rather than stick in a tight school. if you see what i mean. definitely not very active fish though.

Flame Tetras, Rosey Tetras, Ornate Tetras, Black Phantom Tetras or Red Phantom Tetras are all fairly relaxed shoaling fish... and they are all deeper in the body than neons etc..

Red Eyed Tetra's or Harlequin Rasbora's.

Red eye tetras for the top half of the tank. Bleeding heart tetras for the bottom half. Both can swim very quickly if needed (eg. at feeding time) but generally just hang there or gently cruise around most of the time.

I agree with hamfist. Bleeding Hearts and Red eyes both attain good size and are attractive and compatible.

Definatly Red eyes. they get about 4 inches. they are pretty peaceful too.
